Lighting in Cherry Hills Village
The city’s lighting code exempts seasonal and holiday displays from its fixture standards for up to 45 days a calendar year. Outside that exemption, exterior lights on a house must be aimed and shielded so they don’t shine onto another lot or the street. Pick your 45 days and we plan install and takedown to match.
Since 1945 much of the Village has been zoned for 2.5-acre building sites, and keeping its semi-rural character is a lasting goal. Bigger lots mean more trees to light, and trees are priced one by one, so you choose what glows.
The city doesn’t own trees in the street right-of-way; the homeowner next to them is responsible for removing dangerous limbs. If you want street-side trees lit, make sure the limbs are sound first.
The city’s Winter Celebration is Friday, December 18, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at City Hall, with an outdoor tree lighting, hayrides and Santa.
