What we plan around in Littleton

Holiday lights and city code

Littleton’s outdoor-lighting standards exempt holiday lighting in November, December and January, as long as it doesn’t create unsafe glare on the street and meets the electrical code. The code also says holiday rope lighting can’t be used permanently, so takedown matters.

Candlelight Walk and Main Street trees

Downtown Littleton’s Candlelight Walk is Friday, November 27, 2026, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., with a parade and a drone show. Since 2024, live evergreens have lined Main Street in place of the old tree lights; 37 went up in 2025.

December holiday lights may not go up before November 1 and must be taken down by February 1; unplugging doesn’t count. Temporary lights need no approval, but permanent holiday lighting and roof-mounted decorations need Architectural Committee approval.
